In the Marathon area you are right in the middle of the Keys, but away from everything else. There are a few guesthouses here, some chain hotels, some very nice resorts, and a plethora of clean, inexpensive motels. The great thing is that waterfront accommodations are standard here; you have to pay big for a waterfront stay anywhere else in the Keys. There are also a couple of camping facilities available for regular camping as well as RV hookups.

As the atmosphere here is much less formal than in Key West, children are welcome and pets on vacation are more common. Remember that there will probably be an extra cost for both children and/or pets in your room. Although it's less costly than Key West, the local, state and tourist taxes still apply.
