Key Largo Real Estate, Vacation Rentals & Homes for Sale

So, you're thinking about moving to Paradise? The first thing you need to know is that "paradise" doesn't come cheap. The cost of living here is high and salaries are, many times, lower than in the rest of the country. Here almost everything is spread out into subdivisions, and in incorporated and unincorporated areas. But, here you are close to the mainland, and many people who live in the Key Largo area commute there.

If you're in it for the short term, or just want to try it out for a season or two, renting may be the way to go. There are plenty of houses, apartments, and some condos for lease. Low-income housing is available, but sometimes hard to find.

If you are looking to buy, you will have plenty of options. Prices will vary depending upon the island and subdivision, ocean or bay side, and type of house or condo and the amenities that come with it. A big consideration is whether the property is "dry", situated on "open water" or along a canal.

If you are looking for a lot on which to build a house, the prospects are more limited. Monroe County is not interested in growing population density and is mandated to protect the fragile environment. Rules for building in incorporated areas may be different that for unincorporated areas. A real estate agent with a good working knowledge of the system is important.

Commercial properties are also available, as are short and long term office rentals.

A visit to paradise may be all that you want. A vacation rental is often a nice alternative to staying in a hotel or resort. Availability will depend on the area and your length of stay.

Real estate is big business in the Florida Keys, and real estate companies and agents abound. Many of them have links, with listings, on this website, and you may just find your key to paradise waiting for you here.
