Getting around Key West in the FL Keys is easy if you do some quick research ahead of time. Key West transportation ranges from taxis, shuttles and car rentals to bicycles, scooters and your own two feet.

Duval Street and the Old Town area are very walkable. Setting off on foot is a great way to visit the shops, cafes, art galleries and unique buildings and architecture of this tropical Florida Keys location. A good portion of Duval Street has large shade trees overhanging the sidewalk to provide rest from that famous Florida sunshine.

If you drive your own vehicle, motorcycle or electric car, your best bet is to find a parking spot, grab a Key West map and start exploring. There are private parking lots, municipal lots and limited metered street parking. Some municipal lots give you the option of 24-hour parking, which makes it convenient to leave and then come back later. Be sure to read signs as some of the city lots specify “residents only.”

One advantage of having a vehicle at your disposal is the ability to take off and explore other parts of the Florida Keys on your Key West vacation. Car rentals can be found at Key West International Airport (EYW). Airport transportation to and from your destination includes taxis and shuttle services.

There are a wide variety of shops that have bicycle, motor scooter and moped rentals. Some of Key West’s hotels, inns and guesthouses also provide guests with the use of bicycles.
